Alicia walked me and her family to a pile of red apples, an “everyday value” at $1.99 a pound. Alicia took two and placed them on a scale. “You see that?” she said. The cost would be a dollar an apple. At the end of the aisle jumbo bags of chips leaned toward us for half that price. The next aisle was a gauntlet of breakfast cereal and candy, a seemingly odd combination unless you’ve ever walked such an aisle with a child. Taina zigzagged from boxes of toy-and-cartoon-festooned sugar cereals to candy bars and back again, as Alicia tried to subdue her with promises of “later, later.” “They don’t make it easy for us,” she said, wearily.

My hot pink glassine bags came in the mail the other day. I ordered them from Etsy and I couldn’t have been happier.
Now, I’m not really a DIY-er, but I’m trying to be. You know, DIY is the cool and hip thing to do when you’re a blogger bride, so I’ve little by little tried to DIY (cupcake flags and paper flowers for our engagement shoot were my first attempts). I figured glassine bags would be another good attempt that couldn’t go wrong. Aren’t they beautiful?
Since we’ll be using them for our candy buffet, and I was able to use my awesome stamp from another wonderful Etsy vendor, StampOutOnline.
I took a picture of my end result and I think they came out really well! If you’re curious, I used Staz On ink and I really liked it. It took a few minutes for the ink to dry (so if you do a project with this ink, make sure you don’t stack them until they’re dry).
