Tenders awarded for bridges

WORK on the replacement of Marlee and Duffs bridges on the Bulga Road will begin in late June after Greater Taree City Council awarded the design and construction tenders to Delaney Civil.

The project will run between a 52 week period from start to finish, meaning the new two lane bridges will be in use by the end of next year.

Council is currently going through pre-commencement work with the construction company before it arrives on site next month.

The city council has also liaised with NSW Fisheries to obtain permits to work close to the creek.

The two deteriorated wooden structures west of Wingham will be replaced by precast concrete bridges.

Work will first begin on the new substructures under the existing bridges which will not impact on traffic.

This will start on Duffs Bridge followed by Marlee Bridge. Some construction will occur on the two bridges at the same time.
