Lauren Elizabeth Horner and Captain Joseph Michael Byrd were married at 7 p.m. Saturday, December 17, 2011, at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Gardendale, Alabama.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen R. Horner of Dothan, Alabama.  The parents of the bridegroom are Lieutenant Colonel and Mrs. Donald R. Byrd of Birmingham, Alabama.

Father Michael Deering , Gardendale, performed the ceremony before an altar enhanced with green palms and two large arrangements of crimson and ivory cut flowers on stands. Pews were marked with arrangements of red roses, red berries, and ivory satin bows. The flowers in the sanctuary were dedicated in loving memory of Mr. Thomas Byrd, Ms. Memory Chapman, Mrs. Elizabeth Majerik, and Mr. Peter Majerik.,

Scripture was read by Mr. Christopher Joseph Muro and Mr. Troy Wayne Studyvin, Birmingham, friends of the groom.

Cahaba River Strings, pianist Derek Kluz, and vocalist Mrs. Amy Byrd Brady presented a program of nuptial music.  Selections included “Londonderry Air”, “Canon in D”, “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring”, “Trumpet Voluntary”, and “Hornpipe From Watermusic”.  Mrs. Amy Byrd Brady sang “ How Beautiful” by Twila Paris.
